பத்தாவது கேரளத்திரைப்பட விழாவில் பரிசு பெற்ற சில திரைப்படங்கள் கவனத்திற்குரியவை.பத்திற்கும் மேற்பட்ட பரிசில் சிறப்பு நடுவர் பரிசு , சிறந்த இயக்கம், பார்வையாளர்கள் தேர்வு என அதிகப்பரிசு பெற்ற படம் : மவுண்டன் பெற்ரொலிங்.பீஜிங் பத்திரிக்கையாளர் ஒருவர் திபெத்திய மலைப்பகுதிக்கு வருகிறார். அப்பகுதியில் நிலவும் ஒரு சாவு குறித்த விபரங்களை சேகரிக்க முயல்கிறார். விலங்குகளை வேட்டையாடி தோலை அபகரித்து கடத்தும் கும்பல்களைப் பிடிக்க கிராமமக்களே ஒன்று சேர்ந்து உயிரைப் பணயம் வைப்பதை கண்கூடாகப் பார்க்கிறார்.உயிர் இழப்புகள், கொலை வெறி உணர்வுகள் வாழ்க்கையைத் துண்டாடுகின்றன. தன் உயிரையும் பணயம் வைத்துதான் பத்திரிக்கையாளனும் இதில் ஈடுபடுகிறான்.

தமிழ்த் தேசியமானது கடந்த 60ஆண்டுகளில் படிநிலைகளாக வளர்ச்சி அடைந்துள்ளது. 1956, 1976, 1983 இனக்கலவரங்கள் இவற்றை மேலும் கூர்மைப்படுத்தின. 1990இல், ஆண்டாண்டு காலமாக யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் வாழ்ந்து வந்த முஸ்லிம் சமூகத்தினரை அவர்களின் வாழிடத்தில் இருந்து வெளியேற்றியபோது தமிழ்த்
தேசியம் தனக்கொரு புதிய வடிவத்தை ஏற்படுத்திக் கொண்டது. தமிழ்த் தேசியமானது சாதியம், பிரதேசம், வர்க்கம் எனப் பல கூறுகளைக் கொண்டுள்ளது.
